Wearable Art

A small business fueled by the love of Tolkien, fantasy, mythology, romance, and creative costuming.

It all began in 2014; researching and experimenting with crafty solutions to fulfill my costuming needs. Wirework swiftly became my favored medium, and the world of crystals and cosplay fabrication soon opened its doors to me.

At the time I was in school for my BFA in English, and this was a beloved hobby. In the summer of 2015 I did my very first vendor event and was hooked!

By 2016, I was working toward my MFA in Animation and had never stopped crafting and growing my skills. My love of fabrication and creating things with my hands helped decide my focus of study: stop motion animation. I was an intern at Stoopid Buddy Studios (creator of Robot Chicken) in my last few semesters, and when I graduated in 2017 they hired me into their Art Department as a set dresser. From that point on I worked my way up through various studios and projects within the Art and Puppet departments, including: Robot Chicken, SuperMansion, Spongebob, Crossing Swords, Micro Mayhem, American Girl Doll, Hot Wheels, Wendell and Wild, and more.

Throughout all of these projects I was always crafting in my free time. I had a deep love of fantasy jewelry and cosplay that motivated me to keep creating and learning.

When the pandemic hit in 2020, I was staying with family while studio projects were put on hiatus. Suddenly confronted with endless free time and a lot of anxiety, I dove head first into keeping busy with my hobby until the studios decided how they were going to move forward during a lockdown. For almost two months I challenged myself to make new things and experiment with makeup and costuming. I started posting to instagram again. I downloaded TikTok and found myself very overwhelmed and confused by the “trends” and new format of the app.

However, I was determined to figure it out and started posting everyday about my cosplays and my work.

To my absolute shock, people really loved what I was doing. Engagement increased and followers flowed in faster than I could hope to handle them. Suddenly, I had an audience.

My current studio project resumed on a work from home basis soon after, but in every second of my free time I was focused on RoxyRoseCreations.

This long term hyper focus payed off, and soon people were ordering my handmade work! By 2022, I was making enough just from my small business that when my studio project ended, for once I did not panic about finding the next job. I decided to put all my energy into growing my business. I committed 100% of my time, money, creativity, and hope into RoxyRoseCreations…and here we are today. I have grown this hobby into a full fledged business, and now I make what I love every day of my life for like minded people in the fantasy, Renaissance Faire, book lover, and cosplay communities.

But none of it would have been possible without YOU.

My audience and my customers are the reason I can live my dream, and that appreciation knows no bounds.

I’m so excited to see what the future holds, and I can’t wait to experience it all with you.

Thank you,

Roxy
